When the economy's not in great shape, being self employed is scarier than ever. Find out how to get help when work is hard to find. Turn to the SEAP.
The self employment assistance program was designed for unemployed professionals who are having trouble re-entering the work force. Instead of pounding the pavement and struggling to search for traditional forms of employment, individuals can receive unemployment-like benefits from their states as they attempt to establish their own businesses and self employed careers. When work is hard to find, it’s comforting to know there is help available. Receive Self Employment AssistanceWorkers who are eligible for unemployment benefits through their state of residence may be able to parlay this into self employment assistance through SEAP, the program designed for those who are willing (and wanting) to strike out on their own. Search for the availability of the self employment assistance program on a state-by-state basis. How Does the SEAP Work? The self employment assistance program (SEAP) is very similar to receiving unemployment benefits, and it's available to some workers who qualify for these benefits. Workers will be paid an allowance, the same amount they would receive through unemployment, in order to pursue their own business and/or self employment goals. Rather than searching for traditional jobs, professionals will be able to pursue work at home opportunities, start their own businesses or otherwise find ways to become self employed. Get Help When Work is Hard to FindIn today’s economic climate, it’s hard for many people to find jobs of any kind. For some, this makes self employment and work at home seem more attractive than ever. The idea of being in control of one’s own destiny is always appealing, but it seems even more exciting when the traditional job market is so unstable. The self employment assistance program is one way to get help even in troubled times, but this program is not available through every state, nor is it available to every unemployed professional. This doesn’t mean those who don’t qualify are left completely out in the cold, however. Get Help with Self Employment LoansMany traditional lending institutions, such as banks and credit unions, do offer self employment loans for professionals who are finding it difficult to make ends meet or want to expand their working interests. Other lending institutions specialize in self employment loans for professionals who rely upon themselves alone for income. When work is hard to find, find ways to get help. There are programs, loans and lots of information available for those who are self employed (or want to be). Times are tough, but it is possible to lighten the burden and take off some of that financial pressure.
